If you owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve? I think I might own an Italian restaurant. There is such a variety and the food is so rich. Plus my mother-in-law is Italian and her food is awesome so I would hope she would help me with some recipes!

2. What is your favorite restaurant and why? I think Chili's is my favorite. Not very exciting I know but I like the food and it brings a lot of memories when I go so that is my choice.

3. What is your favorite fast food place? I do love Weinerscnitzel but since there isn't one here....I have to pick Burger King. And only because of the chicken fries with buffalo sauce (thanks Cathy!!!).

4. If you had to choose only one type of food to eat for a year, what would it be? Pizza. I could eat it every day. What's not to love.....it has the best of all things. Bread, cheese, meat! And you can eat it with your hands!

5. What is your favorite cereal? I'm not a big cereal fan. But...I guess as a kid it was Captain Crunch. Yum!!!!

Facebook

So lately it seems everyone has been asking me if I am on Facebook. I'm not a fan. Even my mom is on it. And DJ. My brother-in-law keeps bugging me about every other week to update it. First of all do I have time to be updating my every move on this thing? So I signed up like in August. I have done nothing on it. And pretty much have not allowed anyone to see it. Why don't I like it? I'm not sure. I think after hearing all the problems myspace has caused for marriages and people in there jobs, I have a bad taste in my mouth for it. I know a lady who found pictures of her husband with other women on his friend of a friend myspace page and a lady at Dane's school got fired for posting pictures of her students. So why do I want to be a part of this? Am I crazy? The jury is still out. This week I at least changed my last name from Mc to the real one. But I have not added my maiden name cause not sure if I want all these people coming out of the wood works looking more me. Oh I'm just not sure. I'm crazy enough to write my thoughts onto this blog for the world to see. But I guess unless you are really looking you won't find me too easily. I wish I had the time to sit and figure it out. Maybe because I have no idea what I am doing on it that frightens me. When did I become my parents and technology has passed me by. The other day Dane asked me something about his MP3 player. (Yes my 3 year old has an MP3 player). I had no idea how to fix it. I had to tell him to ask his dad. I think those years I stayed locked in my house with all the kids caused me to be behind on all things including technology. Good thing I have DJ to keep me up to speed. Oh, and Dane too I'm sure. So, What do you think of Facebook?

Wordless Wednesday

friday Fill-Ins 1/15/09

1. Enough with the freezing weather. Don't get me wrong, I do like all the snow and wintry feelings. However, I do not like -13 degrees with a windchill of -27 this morning when I am dropping my baby off at school. Can't it be like 30? Ok, i know it sounds crazy to ask for 30 degrees but really, until you feel -13, don't judge!
2. Liking my job causes me to be conflicted. I like what I do. I like the people I work with. But I soooooo miss being home with Dane. I hate feeling guilty about dropping him off in weather like today when we could be at home watching movies and eating popcorn. I get that crazy feeling in the pit of my stomach when I go out for lunch and see a mom with her little ones eating lunch or going shopping. Yes, I think, no I know I would rather be with him than any adult interaction!
3. I've been craving a good book and a fireplace or maybe a good book and a bubble bath. Neither of which seem likely. Dane won't leave me alone when I'm in the bath and he doesn't go to sleep until late and by then I am pretty much out with him. And no fire for me. When we built I put my foot down with DJ that I did not want a wood burning fireplace but a gas. Boy was I wrong! With gas prices out here we haven't even lit the pilot in 3 years. Trust me, I hear about that one often.
4. My co-workers makes me laugh. I work with two wonderful girls who are in their mid-twenties. It totally brings me back to about ten years ago. I feel a little silly sometimes laughing along but can't help it. I forget I'm close to 35 and a mom and wife. They remind me of Brandie and myself when we were that age. Wow the good times we had!!!
5. I wish I could go to California next week. I talked with my friend Cindy on Monday and she was wearing shorts and a tank top. I think that says it all!!!!
6. Money has been on my mind lately. When will I ever make enough. And why won't I? Will we be able to survive another year? What will this economy bring to my family? How will we be affected?
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include going to Tristan's 3rd birthday party (I can't believe he is getting so big) and Sunday, I want to shop for some bargains. I haven't been able to do it for a while and I sure miss the hunt. Hopefully there will be some good sales out there this weekend!

Friday Fill-Ins 1/9/9

1. So I won't repeat it!
So...today I wake up and watch the weather and sure enough, about the time that I am supposed to go to work, they expect some more freezing rain with icy road conditions. I swore last time that I wasn't even going to get behind the wheel again let alone in icy weather. But, one has to go to work and get Dane to school so off I set. I decided to leave and hour early as to avoid as much of the storm as possible. So Dane gets dropped off at school at 7 am, Yikes! How sad poor guy...but I want to make it alive. So off I go. I pretty much drive 15-20 mph the whole way. I'm scared, it's snowing. OK God, help me out here cause I'm a freakin' mess. Then....it starts to rain. So if you're not from here you think ok rain has got to be better than snow, right? No! Rain + 28 degrees temp = ICE! My worst fear. So once again here I am driving in possible ice. I make it most of the way, skid out a few times, drive really slow and whoosh, make it to the parking lot at work! Thank you GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is 7:45 am and I am ready for a shot of tequila!

Friday Fill-In

1. Not by choice!

4. Death is at the end of all things.

5. There's something to be said for neighbors. Without mine I would be have been stuck on the 74 freeway all night and Dane would have had to sleep at Preschool. They brought DJ to my rescue and with their help got me off the side of the icy road and to safety.

6. Right here is where I want to be. I'm at home and I can hear DJ and Dane playing slot cars in the garage having fun.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Meatloaf (I've been craving it), tomorrow my plans include laundry. I haven't done it since we came back from PA. And I'm sure a day full of Bowl Games! and Sunday, I want to sew!

Three

I love three. The age that is. Ok, so we haven't been in the year three very long but so far so good. And maybe this is just a fluke but I am hoping that it is a new phase in Dane's life. For the past week my son has played almost all day by himself. Yes, Dane. It is awesome. I mean there were times that we played with him but it was so weird. He was like a real boy. Ok, I know that sounds strange but hopefully you know what I mean. He is getting so big. He amazes me sometimes.

Wordless Wednesday

Exhaustion!!!

I don't ever remember feeling this physically tired. And it's only Monday. I don't think I am going to be very good at the working mom thing. Ok, It is only the third week. How long did it take for me to get used to be a stay-at-home mom with a brand new baby? I don't know. But I'm sure I was much better at it than this. My poor baby. I picked him up at 5:30 and then we had to go to Radio Shack for a battery for the dog collar. By the time we got a working one, I was barely holding on. Dane wanted pancakes for dinner so off we went to Bob Evans. I admit, I was too tired to make my own pancakes for him. I think the making would be alright but the cleaning up I wasn't looking forward to. Did I mention DJ has been in Australia since Friday? He'll be home a week from today. Although him being home doesn't really change the fact that I am exhausted. I know when I was home I complained to everyone about being mentally exhausted. Guess I just traded one for the other. My mind wants to stay up and hit the coupon web sites or make a trip to CVS but my poor body just says NO!!!! Is this what 34 feels like? And if so, how will I feel ten years from now? Not looking good. I keep praying that this is just an adjustment period and that I will get used to it but it just feels like each week it is getting worse. (On a side note I did enjoy looking at the checking account and actually seeing money. Ha!) And if I am this tired imagine what the boy feels like. Poor guy. I know he's tired cause he almost fell asleep when I picked him up. And then laid down on the booth seat at Bob Evans saying he was tired. Now that we are home, I think he has his second wind. I'm waiting for mine!!

The Hunt

I'm on a hunt. For a costume. And not any costume, but one pumpkin costume in size 3T. You would think that I could find this, right? Oh no, I have been to 7 stores looking. Dane with me the whole time. Couldn't find the pumpkin, couldn't change his mind. The only positive thing about this whole hunt......Dane was a great shopper. Which is like the surprise of the century. No melt downs, no crying when we left the store. Just...Mama, can we look at another store? Which shocked me. I guess he really wants to be a pumpkin!!!

A Trip to the Emergency Room

Tonight I come home from work to a very upset household. I get out of the car and Dane comes running...."Puppy is sick!". Justice looks terrible. Her eyes are bulging out of their sockets, her head is swollen and she can't stop vomiting. She looks terrible. DJ is in panic mode. He doesn't do well with emergencies like this. So, we look in the phone book for the all night emergency vet hospital and off we go. Justice is acting fine, she is excited to go for a car ride. Anyway, it ends up an allergic reaction to something. Probably a bee sting or bug bite. She will be fine. She received a couple shots and was sent home. This picture is about an hour after the steroids so her eyes are looking better. Poor DJ.....he has finally calmed down! Whew he says, what a day! For the little baby boy who only wanted his mommy, who couldn't walk away from me, or argue or tell me no......or be put in time out in a crib in his room! Yes, Dane has graduated to a big boy bed. On Tuesday the 16th, we put together his new bed. Complete with race car quilt and tire sheets. It is very cute. And he transitioned like a charm. I always worry about these kind of changes and then he surprises me. He sleeps in there like it has always been that way. Never once asking for his old bed or crying about being in the new one.

When did I become a mom to a kid? The way he talks, or rides a bike down the street (yes a bike, not a tricycle) or sleeping in a full size bed. He has changed so much. I'm not sure if I am ready for this transition. But I know he is so I can't hold him back just for me. Sometimes I think it is he who is guiding me, not the other away around. But then I realize it is He who is guiding us both. Thank you God for this wonderful new opportunity I have to share with my son and husband.

Still No Job

OK, I'm stressed! I've gotten more experience in the past 3 years with DS than I think I have ever gotten. Yet I feel it is not appreciated. In the job force I mean. I know I am appreciated by family and friends. :) I think maybe I am not taking my fears and desires to God enough. I think maybe I need to focus on that! It seems like any job I have ever had that has been worth anything to me has come through a friend. And boy was that easier. They know you, they understand everything about you. When job hunting you have to practically make up an entire speech about how great you are. I hate that. It is so not me. I mean really, i "KNOW" I'm great (hahaha) but to brag about it seems too much. OK, really. What I mean is I think I can bring a lot to any job I am applying for. I know this, I just hate having to explain it. It sucks. Then they ask you questions that you couldn't possibly know the answer to about their industry and then make you feel like a complete idiot. If there is one thing about me that anyone knows, I hate being put on the spot and made to feel like an idiot. I can remember a time in 6Th grade when my favorite teacher asked me a question in front of the whole class which I didn't know the answer to. i just cried. i think I might have even ran out of the class. I hate to admit I don't know anything but even more to admit it to a superior. It's like they caught me trying to pretend I was smart when really I'm not, I just act like I am.

And why is it that I hate interviewing/working for women. I think other smart women even make me feel like an even bigger idiot. (By the way that teacher who made me cry was a woman.) Is it because they have to try and prove to you that they deserve to be in this "superior" position that they didn't just get there for being a woman. "Trust me girl I know that or I would be where you're at! I know you have to work hard to get anywhere, you don't have to prove it to me." Or is it that I like to work for men because they disassociate emotions from the table? That they are just there to get the job done. Black and white. Either you have the skills to do the job, you are teachable, or you aren't. That's that! Well, wasn't that a rave of some sort.

Can you tell I had one interview with a woman? I'm not sure how it went. I felt inferior the whole time yet she was very friendly when talking about non-work issues such as family and such. So I have no idea how it went and to be honest with you.....do I really want to work for a woman? How sad. Do I seem like a sell out for all that women's lib crap? I just want to work for someone who is intelligent, diligent, approachable, successful and hard working. And I know plenty of women who are that way. I hope nobody reads this that doesn't really know me or they will think I am crazy woman hater. I'm not! Maybe I should just shut up about this.

So I have some prospects in the pipeline for a job but at this point nothing for sure. Let's hope I do at the end of this week.

Alone

Ok, it's Saturday morning and DJ is gone and Dane is asleep. More hectic but more fun.

My Target Deal!

Trip to Target, $19.23.

Ok, so this might not seem like the great deal I got previously, but I did walk away with all this stuff, plus,

$15 in Gift Cards to Target

$10 Rebate from Keebler. Anyway, this is the end of week 3 for Dane at school. Week 1 & 2 were very hard. He cried almost all day long and wouldn't take a nap. One day he even woke up the other children and made them cry. I was so concerned. Not only for him but I was afraid the teachers would start to not like him because he was such an annoyance. Well, week 3 rolled around and most things have changed. He still cried when I drop him off but he usually stops. On Monday, Ms. Leisa told me he started to cry at nap but then told her "I'm not going to cry because I want to make my mom happy!". How cute. And he has been doing good ever since. He still won't eat anything at lunch. Today Ms. JoJo told me she gave him a bigger glass of milk just so he would have something in his tummy. I was hoping for some peer pressure on the eating but so far not working. Anyway, I am please to say he is doing well. Ms. JoJo told me today how smart he was and how all the teachers know him and how well he can articulate himself. He knows almost all of the Pledge of Allegiance already!

Anyway, I guess I better stop bragging. But then again, that's what this page is for, right?

Dane's 1st Day of School

I have never before blogged in my life but after a morning like today I thought I will go ahead and do it. I'm having a hard time with Dane going off to school. A worse time because he was screaming for us as we walked down the hall. It's hard to see his little 2 1/2 year old self crying for me at the door. DJ and I wanted to be strong and just 'Drop N Go'. And we did. But now we are felling horribly guilty about it. Should we have stayed and try to talk to him a little? Too late now! We called about an hour in and they said he was still visibly upset but no longer crying. He was headed off to snack time. His teacher is Ms. Leisa and he is in room 104. Sounds so mature for our little guy. Anyway, whats done is done and going back to check on him will be even more disastrous so we wait at home.

DJ said he couldn't stand to sit and do nothing so made me stop by Lowe's and pick out wallpaper so he could paper downstairs bathroom. I didn't think it would bother him as much as it is. Of course I cried and probably will again later.

Anyway, off to the job hunt!
